Studio Upgrade!
Okay, so really a computer upgrade, but hey. The geeks are gonna love this. So, prior to X-mas (pronounced Ecks-muss, thank you Futurama) I was rocking a nigh 5 year old computer. Here’s what it had Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz 8GB DDR2-800 Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB Here’s what I’m rocking as of 11:48pm MST, December 25, 2011: Intel Core i7 2600 3.4GHz 16GB...
Seriously need to blog more
Rargh. And other such onomatopoeiae. So, I’ve made small progress on the album. As you may have guessed, it’s not coming out in September… if you haven’t guessed, either you didn’t catch the blog post where I said it would be out around September, or you don’t really have a concept of what order the months go in. I can’t really fault you for either....

Two Challenges This Month!
So, I’ve officially committed myself to two challenges for the month of November: National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and the lesser known National Solo Album Month (NaSoAlMo). The goal of both is to complete a work starting on November 1, and ending on November 30. For NaNoWriMo, the challenge is to write a novel (50,000 words, roughly 175 pages), and NaSoAlMo’s goal is to write,...
My Folks
My parents are fucking awesome. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive, fun, grounded, well rounded pair of folks. They come to a lot of my shows, drag their friends out too. They were supportive when I was engaged, and even through our breakup and everything ever since. They supported me dropping out of college, chasing my dream of professional musicianship, and even as a whole new, scary and...

Gots me a new acoustic!
I give you, the Ibanez EWC30EBENT Exotic Wood acoustic-electric. It sounds just as pretty as it looks. :)
Here it is next to my Ibanez Talman
I love the inlay, and the binding and woodgrain are stunning.

Selling my POD X3 Live →
Hey all. I’ve listed my Line 6 POD X3 Live on eBay. Starting price is $220, buy it now for $300. If you’re interested, hit it up. Also, if you win the auction or buy it outright, and you are a fan of the site, message me and let me know, and I can leave my custom tones on there if you want, otherwise, I’m resetting to factory.

I Need to Expand
Considering I love music more than anything in the whole world (hell, I have two large music note tattoos on my arms) I feel like I should consider expanding the content of my blog, since I don’t have new music on a regular basis.
Feel free to disregard this blog post, but I’m openly brainstorming any ideas for adding content to my blogs. Here are a few of the ideas I’ve had:

25 Albums That Changed My Life
Here, in no particular order other than off the top of my head, are the top 25 albums that changed my life, mostly as a musician.
Couldn’t Stand The Weather - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Made In Japan - Deep Purple
Afterburner - ZZ Top
Master Of Puppets - Metallica
Surfing With The Alien - Joe Satriani
Passion & Warfare - Steve Vai
Ah Via Musicom - Eric Johnson
Dark Side Of The Moon -...
Lushness and Orchestration
I’m sure many of you have heard of the “Wall of Sound” technique where the goal is to get this massive sound out of a recording. The most obvious use of WoS is in a lot of Devin Townsend songs, where layers of guitars and synthesizers combine to create a near-soffucating, all-enveloping sound.

This is a cool sound, but I like to do...

Life Update #2: Music Albums and Tattoos
My music productivity has SOARED in the past couple of months. I don’t know what it is, but for the first time in my life, I’m coming home from work, or simply waking up when I have the day off, and almost always going straight to recording, with only the occasional day off here and there.
My band, Steel March, is still in the studio. We finished all the drum tracks, so we’re...
The Plan
Okay, so I have a plan. There will be two versions of my album available for sale (on CD Baby, possibly Amazon as well, still looking into this). The first version will be just the album with all the originals on it.
The second version will contain the whole album, plus a bonus CD with 8 cover songs on it, showcasing some of my influences. I’ve posted a few covers here, but I think...
